James Griffith is Chairman of the Department of Imaging and Interventional Radiology, Prince of Wales Hospital, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has an interest in all aspects of musculoskeletal radiology, particularly ultrasound and the pursuit of new innovative imaging methods and analytics.
Soon after completing medical school training at University College Cork, Ireland in 1983, he moved to the UK where he underwent further medical training acquiring the MRCP in June 1988. He received his radiological training on the West Midlands Radiology Rotation, UK and, in 1995, moved to his present position at The Chinese University in Hong Kong.
Professor Griffith has close ties with the International Skeletal Society being Chair of the Asian Outreach Program from 2017 to 2019 and Chair of the Global Outreach Program from 2019 to 2013. He has also been on the Annual Scientific Program Committee for many years and is a panel member of the Don Resnick Visiting Professor Program.
He was president of the AMS between 2018 and 2020. He is on the editorial board of Skeletal Radiology, QIMS, and Seminars in Musculoskeletal Radiology. He has written 354 peer review scientific papers (H-index 50) and is currently writing the 3rd Edition of the 774-page educational textbook, Diagnostic Ultrasound: Musculoskeletal.
